After picking up his work permit from Princeton, Felipe only
arrived at our AirBnB in Indianapolis at 4 in the morning. He took the morning
off, but after that, we were finally able to attend meetings together. Despite
the good news, we didn’t have any huge meetings in Indy.
In my morning meeting, I got grilled by the CEO of a small consulting
firm, who also happened to own multiple local newspapers, about Business
Today’s publication side. He asked a lot of different questions about the
number of people that we reach and ultimately came away unconvinced even after
I presented our statistics. The conversation was filled with constructive
criticism, so I cut my losses and simply listened to the interesting pieces of
advice he was giving me.
Later, I had a meeting with the Indianapolis Colts, the only
football team we had the chance to meet throughout the summer. I was super
excited about the meeting even though I had already anticipated that they
didn’t plan on donating. My assumption was correct, but I was really happy to
be able to visit a football team, so the experience was definitely worth it.
Our schedule in Indianapolis was entirely on the Thursday
that we were there, so we spent Friday to Sunday lazing around.
Throughout this summer, I have been pretty unproductive.
Compared to Princeton during the school year, I have a lot less work to do on
weekdays, not to mention no homework on weekends. The abundance of time I now
have usually goes towards a plethora of TV shows. In Indianapolis, I went
through a season and a half of Billions, and that was after already finishing
All-American and The Good Fight earlier in the summer. I am definitely enjoying
the relaxation, but at times I miss the school year since I always had
something to do.
The free time also gives me the chance to meet different
people in the cities that we visit. I got to go to the home of some of my
former neighbors in Allentown, PA, where I spent years 0-3. They showed me
around Carmel, one of the nicest suburbs I’ve ever seen, even when compared to
places like Saratoga in California. All of the houses were huge and it was so
green! After visiting the downtown area, I got wonderful homecooked Indian food
for the first time since beginning my travels.
